VACANCY NOTICE #12-05

 
 
TITLE:                       Certified Police Officer, Regular Full-Time
DEPARTMENT:           Law Enforcement, Pueblo of Jemez
SALARY:                   $18.00 per hour
 
JOB SUMMARY:  The Police Officer is responsible for the maintenance of law and order in assigned areas within the jurisdiction of the Pueblo of Jemez.
 
QUALIFICATIONS: 
  • High school diploma or GED; some college preferred.
  • Applicant must be the age of 21 and older.
  • Applicant must be in good physical/mental health; and must complete a physical examination upon employment.
  • Applicant must not have any record of ever being convicted for any type of felony, or domestic violence or DWI within the past 5 years.
  • Must be a graduate of the Basic Police Training Course at the Indian Police Academy or a similar course substantially meeting or exceeding the level of training provided by the Indian Police Academy. 
  • Must be New Mexico State certified or certifiable by waiver.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and be insurable with the tribe’s insurance carrier.
  • Position subject to a criminal background and motor vehicle background check.
 
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
  • Must have good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to write reports in a clear and logical manner.
  • Ability to prioritize with good organizational skills.
  • Ability to meet and deal with a wide range of persons in stressful situations.
  • Must demonstrate proficiency, or high potential of proficiency, in the use of firearms.
  • Must have the ability to adhere to confidentiality requirements.
