COVID-19 Resources and Information

Mission statement:
To provide patient-focused health information services for the highest quality management of patient information and healthcare data needed to deliver quality treatment and patient care.

Services offered:

  • Management of health information, both in paper and electronic formats, of JHHS patients
  • Management of the quantitative and qualitative aspects of the documentation of the JHHS providers and quality review of all imaged documents
  • Coding assignment (abstracting diagnoses and procedures from the health records and assigning an alphanumeric code to ensure appropriate billing and accurate information for data collection)
  • Maintaining the Master Patient Index (MPI)
  • Release of Information (ROI) for confidentiality and timely release of information

Intent:

  • Leading and guiding the staff of JHHS on changing informational needs of patients, clients, and providers
  • Improving patient care by advancing best practices and standards in Health Information Management through innovation and collaboration with all clinical programs of JHHS
  • To maintain patient health records that are accurate, accessible, relevant, and private for compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) of 1996, the Privacy Act of 1974, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Condition of Participation (CoP), and other federal, state, and local laws and regulations
  • Understanding and working within the complexity of the healthcare system to provide unified health information services
